2021 Chenin Blanc

Two harvest components from eight rows of Chenin blanc. Three separate cuvées were collected by basket-press, barrel-fermented and matured for 19 months in individual 228L aged French oak vats.

This is a component blend of those three components, combined to express their unique character across the palate.

Only 492 bottles were produced.

2021 Chenin Blanc

Vigneron's Notes

The My Wyn Chenin blanc grapes are hand-selected from 8 selected rows on a West facing slope in the Franschhoek Valley.

Two harvest dates yielded three cuvées, collected by basket press and separately matured in single 228 L seasoned French oak barrels for 19 months on their lees.

Hugo has been pruning these 8 rows since 2017 and the rows have been isolated into morning and afternoon sunlight ripening zones. This Chenin blanc is a result of the identification and harnessing of the distinct variation in ripening in these 8 rows.

There is a stark difference between the experienced day and night temperatures of the vines, allowing for defined and expressive natural acidity in the grapes.

This Chenin blanc 2021 is an integration of three separate barrel components, produced from two separate harvest lots – an early pick from the West side of the rows and a later pick from the East side of the rows a week later.
